Five South African décor and design businesses have created a one-stop shop solution for decorators at the newly established Number 3 Kramer Road in the heart of Kramerville, Johannesburg.
The building houses top décor and home furnishing merchants such as Lula Fabrics, The Mill contract fabric suppliers, Sasi Wallpaper, Rebtex carpeting and Heavenly Feather bed linen.
Number 3 Kramer Road is a key component in further developing the five businesses shared service to designers and decorators looking for décor solutions under one roof. It is a key stepping stone for the artistic shops into surrounding African markets, given Johannesburg’s position as a continental business centre.
Since opening in 2007, Lula Fabrics has designed a series of collections which have won a loyal following nationally, regionally and globally. Through the support of leading designers, decorators and a network of sales agents, Lula Fabrics designs now distinguish homes, offices, hotels and restaurants in South Africa, the Indian Ocean islands, North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia and Australia. Lula Fabrics’ latest collection, The Silk Road, is inspired by traditional Ikats and Suzani’s from the 19th century. This new collection builds on the success of Melissa’s previous collections such as Spring, African Mischief, New Tribal and Damask & Paisley. Lula Fabrics has also sells a range of cushions, chairs, ottomans, pumps, aprons, cosmetic bags and handbags in the popular Lula Fabrics designs. These are available for wholesale and retail.
The Mill, established in 2006 by Lorna Bailey, designs, manufactures, imports, sources and distributes its own fabric collections, which are coordinated and sampled in-house. The products range from modern contemporary to antique classic. As well as offering a standard range of stocked inventory, The Mill specialises in custom designed and branded fabrics, specifically woven or embroidered to the client’s requirements. The Mill has produced eye catching furnishing fabrics for Blue Chip companies such as Anglo American, Southern Sun Hotels, Toyota, Mugg & Bean South Africa, Mugg & Bean U.A.E., SAB Miller and Wimpy.
Heavenly Feather’s owner, Bonnie Stanley, manufactures bespoke feather and down, custom scatter cushion inners, upholstery, sleeping pillows and duvets for wholesale, retail, hotels, interior designers and trade customers. All inners can be made to your designs and specifications. They also supply loose feathers to trade customers and upholsterers sold by the bale. Quality of workmanship, speed of delivery and aftercare service is guaranteed with every product. All scatter cushion inners can be made in natural feather and down mix, 100% feather or synthetic fillings from the smallest cushions to large floor cushions, outdoor cushions, furniture pads, and seats. The newly launched range of bed linen fabrics straight from the weaver’s mill in Italy is sold on the roll all three meters wide in the Heavenly Feather showroom. Think exquisite to touch, sensuous textures, beautiful details and old-world craftsmanship that dress your bedroom and your life.

Sasi Wallpaper supplies and arranges the installation of an wide array of incredible papers from the understated varieties to the “bling” and “wow” for homes and offices. As specialists in the industry Taryn and Samantha will assist with the right selection of wallpaper with a choice of vinyl’s, grasses, woven and non-woven products and customised wallpaper for the corporate and domestic markets.
Rebtex is the largest spinner and weaver of sisal carpets in the in the southern hemisphere, designing and manufacturing for France, Mauritius and Australia. Our product range include – sisal, jute, sea grass, abaca and coir used as bespoke rugs, wall to wall carpeting, floor tiles and wall coverings. Our clients range from corporate green buildings, hospitality and domestic markets.
Green: We take environmental conservation very seriously, our aim is to inspire and supply our customers with alternative natural products and solutions that will improve their environmental ratings, reduce the impact of developments on the environment, simultaneously providing healthier working and training conditions for humans. The manufacturing plant provides employment to 84 people in the remote community of Polokwane.
Kramerville is the design and decorating hub of Johannesburg and home to many of the country’s leading décor shops and retailers. It is ideally located near Sandton CBD and the M1 motorway.
