In an exciting move that is designed to tap into, and showcase, the growing local sustainability and “green” knowledge base available in SA, the Green Building Council of South Africa is calling for proposals for presenters for the upcoming annual GBCSA Convention and Exhibition 2012, taking place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from the 23rd to the 25th of October.
“The GBCSA are excited about the increased accessibility to world-class skills and knowledge in sustainability in our country. For the first time ever we are calling for proposals from South Africans who feel that they have an inspiring sustainability-focussed topic to share,” explains Donné Putter, Education and Training Manager at the GBCSA.
There are two categories under which the GBCSA are looking for presentations. The first is the 50 minute Education Sessions and the second is the 10 minute Rapid Fire Talk. Subject matter should cover preferred topics of interest such as building performance, energy efficiency, green jobs, human behaviour, government and policy, legal issues, international challenges and opportunities, development and innovation in technologies and thought leadership, to name a few.
“The conference attracts professionals from all over the country and abroad who come together for three days of outstanding educational sessions, green building tours and networking events. The sessions expand on topics such as: sustainable design, construction and operational practices for buildings and communities, including their impact on people, the environment, and the economy,” says Putter. “We are hoping to attract individuals who can present engaging, cutting-edge educational offerings at the event and we encourage innovative new presentation styles where possible.”
All proposals must be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org and the GBCSA along with independent reviewers will select which will have the opportunity to present at the event.
