Roedean School turns up the heat with Home Comfort

When Roedean School started planning its new extension, Home Comfort was the obvious choice to provide energy-efficient heating for a brand new boarding house on its premises in Parktown, Johannesburg.

The expert-team at Home Comfort were recently contracted by Roedean School, to supply a cost-effective and energy-saving underfloor heating system that could build upon their commitment to effective energy usage.

Roedean School (SA) is a prominent all girls’ school with a longstanding heritage and a reputation for exceptional academic, cultural, and sporting excellence. The school followed international and national trends in the establishment of new or refurbished boarding facilities support the creation of nuclear-family-style units, thus creating more intimate communal-living environments. This design enhances the possibility of developing levels of independence and leadership within a boarding facility.

With this in mind, the Home Comfort-team stepped up and installed Danfoss water underfloor heating (hydronic heating) in the brand new boarding house. The team installed the hydronic system in the screed during the building process of the new extension to ensure that energy is stored efficiently. The benefits of water-underfloor heating are evident. The technology has been tried and tested, it is cost-effective for the homeowner and it is a very efficient way of saving energy.

Home Comfort ensured that the installation of the water underfloor heating system was executed seamlessly. The team advised on pre-installation requirements and managed the installation from custom-design to commissioning. Post-commissioning and backup-support are also part of their services. “We are honoured to have been a part of this project – adding energy-efficient heating to one of Johannesburg’s landmark-schools is something that our entire team is proud of,” said Hendrik Roux, Managing Director of Home Comfort.

The Home Comfort-team’s expert installation will ensure that the future leaders of our country are kept warm throughout the looming winter-months in their brand new boarding house at one of the most esteemed all girl-schools in the country.
