The Southern Africa Stainless Steel Development Association (Sassda) is proud to announce its biennial celebration of stainless steel achievements – the 2014 Stainless Steel Awards.
The 2014 Stainless Steel Awards serve to applaud exceptional achievements within the stainless steel industry. By profiling innovative thinking and successes from the industry, the reputation of the Awards and stainless steel is enhanced both locally and internationally.
This year the Awards coincide with the celebration of Sassda’s 50th anniversary. The awards are traditionally a celebration of the success of stainless steel in the country, however, this year not only are we celebrating the industry’s recent achievements, but also the rich history of the South African stainless steel industry.
Sassda invites architects, designers, engineers, fabricators, producers, students, inventors, distributors and users of stainless steel to enter to 2014 Stainless Steel Awards. Entries are welcome from individuals and companies (locally and abroad) that are involved in the design, production, conversion, distribution, use or specification of stainless steel.
Finalists and winners will be selected from the entries by a panel of judges and the winners will be announced at a Gala Awards Banquet to be held on 6 November 2014 at The Indaba Hotel, Fourways in Sandton.
Six Awards categories exist for entrants to participate in. Winners and runners up will be recognised in these different fields and an overall winner will be chosen from them and awarded the 2014 Stainless Steel Award. The categories include:
– Best Stainless Steel Project Award: The sub-categories for this award include: Art, Architecture and Engineering.
– Best Stainless Steel Product Award
– Innovation Award
– Achievement Award
– Student Award
– Sustainability Award
A panel of six independent judges has been selected by Sassda to judge the Awards. The panel is made up of stainless steel stalwart Diego Sella, architect Tom Steer, media representative Peter Middleton, engineer Nicolette Skjoldhammer, metallurgist Dr Janet Cotton and designer Luke Hartdegen.
