BASF has expanded its Durban dispersions facility, marking a significant milestone as the company celebrates 60 years in South Africa. Durban is one of six dispersion production sites within BASF’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) network. ‘This expansion in Durban will increase our supply reliability and ensure excellent product quality,’ says Ruveshen Reddy, BASF site manager responsible for the Durban production site. The project involved modernising production facilities and installing a cutting-edge reactor to achieve capacity and quality goals. These upgrades are expected to significantly enhance operational efficiency and product consistency.

The Durban plant holds strategic significance as BASF’s first and only greenfield investment in Africa since 2012. It remains the only multinational-owned dispersions plant in South Africa, underscoring the company’s long-term commitment to the country and the regional economy.
