With a whole new look as well as the addition of a brand new design exhibition, Decorex Joburg was widely declared as Gauteng’s number one décor and design destination over this year’s Women’s Day weekend.
100% Design is one of the world’s most acclaimed design trade events and launched to great acclaim last week in South Africa. 100% Design South Africa now takes place alongside Decorex Joburg and its addition means that Africa’s largest décor, design and lifestyle exhibition now occupies seven – and all available – halls at Gallagher Exhibition Centre in Midrand.
Both visitors and exhibitors declared the exhibition an inspiring success, showcasing the widest variety of designs, products and services under one roof to a diverse and enthusiastic audience of both trade and consumers.
“We could have not wished for a better weekend,” said Sian Steyn, General Manager of Decorex SA. “Mother Nature played her part with plenty of sunny almost-spring days that had everyone in a creative mood and our exhibitors really went the extra mile to help us put together the most enjoyable exhibition ever.”
Decorex Joburg took place from 6th to 10th August and kicked off with the Design and Trends Forecast by Caesarstone, featuring South Africa’s leading trend analyst Dion Chang of Flux Trends. The theme of this year’s exhibition was Design your Life, focusing on the rise of individual style.
Other highlights of the exhibition included South Africa’s first glimpse of the 2015 paint colour trends, courtesy of Plascon who revealed their colour forecast for next year in the colourful Plascon house.
Decorex SA patron Stephen Falcke wowed the crowds with his delicious mix of coral, brown and hues of blue in a collaboration with Home Fabrics and Clarke & Clarke.
In the Decorex Designer Spotlight Decorex Joburg invited, Sprout Design with designers Sam Lurie and Peter Gordon, collaborating with St Leger & Viney to create a feast of elegant colour and light.
The Belgotex Trend House showcased the work of leading interior consultants, using a variety of Belgotex’s floor coverings.
An all-star group of industry judges selected the top stands at the exhibition, with awards handed out an exhibitor function on Friday 8th August. The best overall stand award went to Eva-Last, the best small stand was won by Eetrite and Franke took top honours in the kitchen and bathroom category.
Decorex South Africa owners, Thebe Reed Exhibitions, are now part of a global network of exhibitions and organisers have promised that next year’s show will include new and even more exciting features.
