The trend in home lighting is shifting. Gone are the days when the ‘big light’ dominated interiors. Today, layered and ambient lighting is taking centre stage, creating spaces that feel warm, inviting and restorative. The Shan light, a new creation by Faro Barcelona, perfectly embodies this movement. Designed by Spanish industrial and interior designer Pepe Llaudet, this sculptural table lamp is a testament to the power of thoughtful, atmospheric lighting.

A focus on atmosphere over brightness

The Shan light is named after the Japanese word for ‘three’, reflecting its trio of handmade parchment shades. These artisan-crafted shades emit a soft, cloud-like glow that prioritises atmosphere over harsh brightness. The lamp’s design conceals its light source, ensuring an even, diffused illumination that transforms any space into a calming retreat.

Inspired by Japanese principles

The Shan light embodies Japanese design principles of simplicity, proportion and restraint, combining functionality with artistry. Meticulous technical development ensures its sculptural presence, balancing the large-scale format with stability. Handcrafted parchment enhances its design with a delicate yet timeless quality, making it a standout piece in any interior.

Lighting that shapes mood and experience

The Shan light is more than just a lamp; it’s a tool for creating depth, warmth and visual rhythm in interiors. By focusing on ambient lighting, it encourages calmer, more restorative spaces. This approach aligns with the growing trend of using lighting to shape mood and experience, rather than simply providing visibility.
