Following the development of Mall of the North, City Centre and Makro Polokwane in recent years the Moolman Group, in partnership with two local businessmen Messrs Jaco Nel and Sam Mabotja, is back in their “home town” with the development of an exciting new shopping centre in Seshego, Polokwane.
The new shopping centre is located at the confluence of Nelson Mandela and Polokwane Drive being the two main arterial roads connecting Seshego with Polokwane and the north. The well-known Seshego circle abuts the property which forms the gateway to the township at large and hence the name Seshego Circle Shopping Centre.
“The shopping centre will be developed as a community based facility and follows the recent trend of shopping centres being developed in peri-urban areas,” says Mr. Pieter Beyers, director at Moolman Group, adding: “The shopping centre will primarily cater for the needs of the Seshego community but will also serve some of the outlying areas like Makgofe, Mobokele and Perskebult.”
The 15,000 m² shopping centre will be anchored by a 3,500 m² Shoprite and 2,500 m² Cambridge, the new supermarket outlet of the Massmart group. The shopping centre also offers a wide range of well known fashion outlets like Jet, Edgars Active, Pep, Total Sport, Exact, Markhams, Truworths, Identity, Mr. Price and Rage. In addition, the high demand for banking facilities is being addressed by Standard Bank, Nedbank, Capitec and African Bank having representation in the development. Food options include a KFC drive through, King Pie, Fish & Chip Company and Debonairs.
Mr. Sam Mabotja states: “We see the opening of the Seshego Circle Shopping Centre bringing sustainable economic growth and a host of new employment opportunities in the area.” Mr. Mabotja further explains: “The development will substantially contribute to the advancement of BEE in this previously marginalized area where approximately 400 people will be employed during construction and 300 permanent employment opportunities will be created.”
Final words from Mr. Jannie Moolman: “We are privileged to be a part of this development that will serve the community of Seshego and look forward to the opening scheduled for the last week of October 2013.”
