The countdown is on for 100% Design Africa 2025, taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre from 24 to 27 July 2025, and co-located alongside Decorex Joburg. This four-day extravaganza promises to deliver the best in contemporary design, hospitality innovation, and cultural craftsmanship. With four distinct pavilions – Local Design, International Design, Materials, and the Capitec handmadeAFRICA showcase – this year’s iteration will reflect a dynamic vision of the design world while diving into the complexities of craftsmanship, materiality, and global connections.

Anchored by these curated spaces, the event is enriched by the Future Talks series, offering forward-thinking conversations around what’s next in design, architecture, and innovation.

Capitec handmadeAFRICA Pavilion: Where luxury meets heritage

Highlighting high-end African craftsmanship, the Capitec handmadeAFRICA pavilion will feature 10 outstanding brands from across the continent, including designers from Morocco, Botswana, and South Africa.

Local Design Pavilion: The bold spirit of local design

South African creativity takes centre stage in the Local Design Pavilion, where studios, makers, and creatives showcase innovative design and cultural storytelling.

• Casamento debuts ‘The Field’, a sustainable armchair-and-ottoman crafted from recycled cotton, timber, and hand-spun wool in collaboration with Coral Stephens.
• Ananta Design Studio presents the Purna Collection, an exquisite range of beaded vases inspired by abundance.
• Han + NISH unveil their minimalist OLIO Wall Sconce alongside a standalone sculptural work by Han.
• Mash.T Design Studio adds a playful twist with the nostalgic Smiley Pendant.
• Clout/SA partners with the Nando’s Hot Young Designer programme to present The Clout/SA Thread Collection (Chapter 1), featuring locally woven textiles.

New launches include the Swahili-inspired Raha Daybed by Urbanative, high-fired stoneware by Kilnhouse inspired by Joburg’s textures, sculptural Petra planters by Indigenus, and storytelling-driven furniture by uMugqa Studio.

International Design Pavilion: Global innovation in focus

Connecting Joburg to the broader design world, The International Design Pavilion features renowned global brands whose work reflects innovation, luxury, and cross-cultural dialogue.

• Brazil’s Nosso brings a curated collection of décor infused with colour and heritage.
• Cape Town-based Créma Design showcases European names like Gubi, Flos, and Muuto.
• French maison Ligne Roset introduces avant-garde furniture and accessories.
• ErgoKonzept presents its ergonomic steel furniture blending industrial design with functionality.

Materials Pavilion: Where craft meets innovation

Curated by Alan Hayward and Garreth van Niekerk, this pavilion explores material innovation, shifting between age-old techniques and contemporary explorations in biomaterials and technology.

• Conscious weaving from Sett & Beat, known for their locally sourced fibres and botanical dyes.
• Wolkberg Casting Studios reinvents concrete with Limesite™, a cutting-edge proprietary material promoting sustainable interior designs.

Future Talks: Exploring what’s next in design and architecture
