AXOR and Antonio Citterio unveil three extraordinary bathroom concepts

Achieving a balance between luxury, sustainability, and cultural inspiration, this collaboration between AXOR and Italian designer Antonio Citterio has culminated in three extraordinary bathroom concepts, set on three continents. Entitled ‘Escape the Ordinary’, the campaign designs – set in South Africa, Japan and Italy – reveal how refined aesthetics and innovative water experiences can redefine bathrooms into spaces of comfort and personal expression.
Raw elegance and sustainability in South Africa
Set in Cape Town, the Western Cape Apartment Residence displays the region’s natural textures and focus on resourcefulness. Red clay-plaster walls are paired with reclaimed terrazzo flooring, echoing the surroundings, and water responsibility is addressed with the inclusion of the AXOR EcoSmart ShowerSphere (8L/min flow rate), a shower that combines efficiency with indulgence. Finished in brushed black chrome, all fixtures align with an earthy, tactile aesthetic while addressing the ecological challenges of drought-prone areas.
Serenity and sophistication in Japan
Inspired by the tranquillity of Japanese architecture, the Japanese City Loft utilises natural materials in a harmonious design. Surrounded by traditional gardens, the serene interior features include wood flooring, concrete details and black mosaics. A monolithic marble wash basin topped with a sleek AXOR Citterio C single lever faucet creates a sense of meditative calm.
European elegance in Italy
A tribute to Antonio Citterio’s Italian heritage, the Mediterranean Hotel bathroom concept combines traditional Roman architecture with contemporary design. Key elements include classic materials – Rosso Levanto marble and travertine evoke historical depth – and innovative fittings such as the AXOR ShowerSphere, which combines several spray modes and optimised thermostatic controls. Finished in brushed bronze, this bathroom couples cultural opulence with modern comforts.
